The National Opera & Ballet of Ukraine from Odessa experienced the world premiere of a unique Carmina Burana by Carl Orff just before the Russian invasion.

An intense, poetic work about the capriciousness of fate, the joy and transience of earthly existence, sensual pleasure and laughter, and the passage of the seasons.

This masterpiece, according to Orff's concept, is performed by 130 performers in a modern setting as an audiovisual Gesamtkunstwerk. All art disciplines merge into a moving experience. Direction, choreography, and design are in the hands of the Dutch choreographer Gerard Mosterd.

What makes this large-scale production especially unique is that it is performed by top artists, vocal soloists, choir, ballet, and orchestra from heavily affected war zones.
